CJI Report - September, 2015
It is 1:30am Thursday night / Friday morning and I decided to send out
a very short CJI report just to wish everyone a Shana Tova.
I will try and create a regular job report "next year".
Sunday night is Rosh Hashana and I updated many resources for the holidays.
Here are a few:
New Israeli educational stamps including the Jewish holidays:
Rosh Hashana Educational Resources:
450+ Rosh Hashana Videos:
The Rosh Hashana Photo Gallery:
Below are 3 positions that I had in my inbox.
There are many open job positions in Israel.
The report is short because I did not have time to work on it.
I will try and find time between holidays.
Have a Good Year!
The CJI report has been published on-line since June 1993.

--> Operations Engineer (CJI-01)
Description: Quantopian needs a world-class Operations Engineer to help us disrupt
the world of finance. We're building the world's first crowd-sourced
hedge fund, and we're growing our team to support our rapidly expanding
user base and add the features our users are clamoring for.
Our Operations team is responsible for keeping our platform stable and
secure; for maintaining and enhancing our backend infrastructure; and
for designing and implementing infrastructure enhancements. Your work
will include both day-to-day operations tasks and development work,
primarily in Python. Our continuing success ensures ample opportunity
for career growth.
In particular, you will:
Deploy and manage our full stack of cloud-based services;
Troubleshoot and fix application issues across our entire stack;
Design and implement infrastructure components to improve the
reliability, scalability, and manageability of our application;
Identify pain points in the development, maintenance, and
administration of our application stack, propose solutions, and make
them happen; and
Work with many technologies, including Linux, AWS, Python, Heroku,
MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Ansible, CloudFormation, and Consul.
Most of Quantopian is in Boston, Massachusetts, but we're expanding
internationally! As we grow, it is becoming more and more critical for
us to have people east of UTC to to keep Quantopian running. We've
chosen Israel as the initial target for our overseas recruiting efforts
for a number of reasons, most notably its vibrant start-up culture,
especially in fintech; its large pool of highly talented tech
professionals; and the seven-hour time difference, which is perfect for
us, since it makes it easy for engineers in Israel to cover our "night
shift," while at the same time making it easy for our engineers in
Boston and Israel to interact with each other on a daily basis.
On the inside, Quantopian is a small team of smart, dedicated engineers
bash, and anything else we need to get the job done. We run on Heroku,
AWS, and Ubuntu, and store our data in MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, and
Memcache. We ship early and often. We have lives outside of work. We
like each other.
Requirements: If you're passionate about keeping the gears turning smoothly,
tackling hard problems, and working with really smart people, then we'd love to
hear from you.
